"Reiki Is the secret art of inviting happiness into your life " Dr Usui our founder.
Reiki is a spiritual path that can lead to enlightenment through the purification of your own consciousness. Purify, clarify and unify, the more that you purify the self; the more you discover your true purpose. Reiki with Quan Yin opens the inner chamber of the heart of your true and essential self. It assists you to develop your spiritual potential and access your Buddha-nature and Christ self. With the help of an experienced Reiki Master Teacher providing high quality training combined with your own effort to integrate the Dharma shared, your birthright of enlightenment can become your reality.
A spiritual awakening is often experienced during the sacred initiations that form part of the Reiki training courses. People often say that it feels like the light has been turned on. The ethical principles of Reiki are self-discipline, integrity and pure intent; these principles are part of the integration of self-mastery over negative thought-led emotions, words and actions that create disharmony and then disease.
Reiki benefits the individual psychologically, emotionally and physically. It promotes a deep sense of relaxation and well being, it balances emotions, and helps to release emotional blocks in the energy system. It releases stress and can eliminate anxiety and depression. Simple ailments usually respond quickly, burns heal faster with less or zero scarring. Reiki speeds recovery after injuries and operations and is wonderful for pregnant mums. Other benefits include boosting the immune system and strengthening the bodies own dynamic self-healing system. It aids the detoxification process and relieves physical pain.
Q. Where did Reiki come from?
Reiki can be traced right back to Buddha (500BC), its roots are found in Esoteric Buddhism and Shinto. This Japanese spiritual art was rediscovered by our founder Mikao Usui Sensei (1865-1926) known as Dr Usui. It states on Dr Usui’s memorial stone that he had 2,000 students and some of these students are listed in various lineages. The most famous of these is a naval officer, Chujiro Hayashi who trained Mrs Hawayo Takata (1900-1980) from Hawaii, in the system known as the Western Oral Tradition.
Mrs Takata trained 22 Reiki Masters in the west and from here Reiki has spread widely throughout the world. It is estimated that due to the rapid growth in the last 25 years, in the UK alone there is now approximately 300,00 initiates and in excess of a million Reiki practitioner’s worldwide. Up to the year 2,000, a majority of students around the world were taught the Western Oral Tradition from this lineage, and since the 1980’s many other styles of Reiki have been introduced by Reiki Masters under different names. Reiki with Quan Yin is a new track, taking Reiki back to its Buddhist roots of the pathway to enlightenment.
Q. What must be done in order to learn Reiki?
Our founder Dr Usui responded, “First learn Shoden (first degree level of initiation in the west) and when you bring good results, behave properly, honestly and morally and are enthusiastic then you will be initiated into Okuden (the next level).”
Check out the dates of training courses on the workshop listing, then send a cheque made payable to the Academy of Energetics to book your place or call 01206 521177.
Q. How do I know if I am ready for the next level of Reiki?
Dr Usui said that one cannot move onto learning the Reiki Practitioner level e.g. Second Degree (Okuden) until one has brought healing results, these healing results can be on the self, friends and family. Our founder was also insistent upon people living and integrating the Reiki principles prior to moving up to the next level. Self-mastery is a large part of the training courses provided by the Academy of Energetics; to ensure that students integrate the parameters and principles laid down by our founder Dr Usui.
Q. Can anyone learn Usui Reiki Ryoho?
Dr Usui responded “Naturally. Men and women, old and young, physicians and uneducated people who live according to the moral principles can certainly learn within a short time to heal themselves, as well as others”. Major importance is put on the responsibility of healing the self and integrating the moral principles by making them a way of life.
Q. Is Reiki a complementary medicine therapy?
No it is not. The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, was asked whether Reiki was the same as other therapies, ‘No’ he responded. ‘No it is not similar to the forms of therapy described, at the end of many year’s training I found a spiritual secret. ‘ He was then asked, “Is Reiki a psychic spiritual method of healing?” he responded: “Correct we call it ‘shinrei ryoho.’ Reiki is something absolutely original and cannot be compared with any other spiritual path in the world. Each of us has the potential of being given a gift by the divine, which results in the body and soul becoming unified, in this way a great many people will experience the blessing of the divine.”
It is now erroneously accepted by the establishment; to be a complementary medicine therapy. When in reality it is a spiritual art with a specific focus of purification and developing the self to reach enlightenment. Reiki is a pathway to enlightenment and a wonderful tool primarily for purifying the self. Giving Reiki to others is the by-product not the original intent and purpose. The training courses shift your energy and raise your consciousness, buried blockages in your energy system rise to the surface for purification. The initiations and sacred attunements are done in secret and this is the complete opposite to the transparency of CAM therapies that are taught in colleges on demand. It is imperative that each stage of development is carried out at the discretion of the Reiki Master Teacher and the Reiki student.
The founder Dr Usui, repeatedly responded that Reiki is for healing the self and that once one has achieved this, then one can give healing to others. Giving healing energy to others is a by-product of one’s own development. Self-mastery over one’s own emotions is imperative so that people become clear and powerful channels for the spirit of the Reiki energy.
Q. What success have you had with Reiki?
The Academy has witnessed miracles both in treatment and as a result of Reiki training courses. Reiki appears to increase the oxygen in the blood and kick-start the client’s own dynamic self-healing system. This has created a powerful impact on diseases connected to the lungs, breath and skin. Other successful cases have included depression, addictions and healing the root causes of behavioral problems that impact on mind, body and soul. There is no doubt at all, that Reiki changes peoples lives for the better; in fact one’s life is never the same again after taking a Reiki with Quan Yin healing course. Drug addicts have ceased taking drugs, a drug dealer stopped dealing and began a new life, other addictions like food and alcohol are also alleviated; the wonderful outcomes are too many to list.
Q. How much experience have you had with Reiki and spirituality.
Kim was born a ‘sensitive’ and grew up in a Christian Spiritualist family, spirituality has always been a part of her life. She began working professionally and teaching spiritual subjects in the early 90’s and her Reiki journey began in 1995, she started teaching Reiki with Quan Yin in 2001. 30+ years is a lot of experience of sharing spiritual subjects with others. Her in-depth experience of working with a vast array of different energies is rare, clairsentient, clairvoyant and clairaudient; prior to training in Reiki.
Q. How many levels do you teach?
Up to the year 2000, a majority of Reiki Masters were only teaching the Western Oral Tradition. Following discovery and publication of the Japanese Reiki Techniques some courses now only offer JRT. The Academy courses include both systems of working with the Reiki energy.
Reiki First Degree – A gift to yourself
Reiki Second Degree – The Practitioner Level
Usui Reiki Master Teacher – Qualified to teach the Western Oral Tradition and JRT.
Advanced Level Reiki with Quan Yin Master Teacher – Further advancement and qualified to teach Reiki with Quan Yin.
Q. What is the difference between the Western Oral Tradition and the Japanese Reiki Techniques (JRT)?
The Western Oral Tradition has a system of practice and JRT is the opposite; it is working intuitively. The methodology and Reiki dharma is also different.
Q. How large are your training courses?
First degree is a maximum of ten people, Second Degree is a maximum of 8 people, and both training courses are two days, intensive and comprehensive. Usui Reiki Master Teacher is a maximum of six students, over four days and usually a residential course. This ensures that you receive dedicated and personal attention for the duration of the training courses. Our aim is to ensure that all students of the Academy are a credit themselves, the Academy and ultimately Dr Usui, our founder.
The credibility of the spiritual art of Reiki is in your hands; so it is important that members have the utmost integrity.
Q. What support do you offer?

The Academy builds close working relationships with students that like to benefit from the resource that the teachers provide. Some students become colleagues and beloved friends. The support is provided free of charge for as long as you require it. Reiki Development Groups are also offered by Reiki Masters qualified with the Academy. This is not a Reiki share, its aim is to further develop your skills and you receive further teachings and continuous professional development.
Q. What is the Dharma?
The dharma can be defined as universal truth. The dharma is conduct and virtue that applies to every individual. Dharma (in Sanskrit) means Natural law or reality, in the context of spirituality it is the way of the higher truths. Those that integrate and live in harmony with the Reiki dharma passed on during the Academy training courses, move quickly to liberation on the pathway to enlightenment. This dharma includes self-realisation and purification to obtain liberation, as the primary focus. It honours all spiritual paths and religions equally. The dharma helps you to live your own truth, in your own way, with pure intent, compassion, unconditional love and the utmost integrity.

Yes you can, this is included in the Reiki with Quan Yin training courses.
Q. Who is Quan Yin?
Quan Yin is the English spelling for Kuan Yin; in Japan she is known as Kannon. Her full title Kuan Shih Yin is the one who hears the cries of the world. This Bodhisattva of Compassion is most loved throughout Indonesia and Asia Pacifica, in India she is known as the Avalokitesvara. In the power of the divine feminine, she transcends all religious doctrines, creeds and traditions. Every person has the ability to become a Bodhisattva; it is your compassion that transforms you on the pathway to enlightenment. Bodhisattva, means "enlightenment being," and is someone who helps all beings attain liberation from the wheel of karma and the cycle of rebirth, a Bodhisattva can hear, listen and respond to the needs of others, assisting you to reach Nirvana and the Kingdom of Heaven within. She is one of many energies that intercedes for the supreme source of all life.

Q. I would like to learn absent healing is this included in Reiki training courses?
Yes, it is included in the practitioner level, Reiki Second Degree.
Q. Can I do Reiki I and II together?
We advise against this; a Reiki First Degree should not be carried out in no less than 14 hours training and it does require at least 6-12 weeks to integrate the first level prior to proceeding to the next level. Reiki is very powerful indeed and too much too soon is not advisable.
Q. Does the Academy do one-to-one initiations?
We advise against this because the student misses out on the group dynamics and the experience gained of working with different energies within a group.
One-to-ones limit the full potential and confidence that builds naturally from your own experience of working with a group of different people during your initiations and sharing experiences.
Q. Do you travel to teach these training courses?
Yes we have run courses in the Canaries and Italy; there are also plans to teach in New Zealand. Kim will travel wherever she is called, if you would like arrange a course please do not hesitate to call or email.
Q. I would like to train with a Reiki Master Teacher that has been trained with the Academy can you recommend one?
Yes, if you contact us we may have an RM in your area.
